Burbank is welcoming a new group of businesses to boost its local economy. This wave of businesses is thanks to the City's Economic Development team, a section of the Community Development Department focused on attracting investments and new businesses to Burbank. The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors is looking into strategies for economic and workforce development. This involves cooperation from local businesses for community projects. Needs being addressed for economic development are attracting new businesses, housing and childcare initiatives, and a quality school system.
Kansas
The City of Lawrence is asking for proposals related to economic development services in the 2025 budget process. The areas of interest include attracting businesses, supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, workforce development, and business retention. Proposals that best align with city objectives will receive funding. The process will involve evaluation by city's economic development staff. The chosen agencies will then co-work with the city staff to finalize the scope of work and funding agreement.
Louisiana
Central St. Landry Economic Development purchased the Equine Sales Facility Compound located south of Opelousas in central St Landry Parish.
Mississippi
The State of Mississippi has granted Pearl River County two site development funds for economic development. Governor Tate Reeves announced the grants: a $50,000 grant for Pearl River County Technology Park and a $250,000 grant for Pearl River County Industrial Park.
