Arkansas

A $4 million federal grant from the Environmental Protection Agency will fund the rehabilitation of brownfield sites in Arkansas to improve environmental health and stimulate economic growth

Connecticut

Gov. Ned Lamont and Commissioner Daniel O’Keefe announced $100 million in state funding for scientific innovations at the Yale Innovation Summit, targeting biotechnology, financial technology, insurance technology, and advanced manufacturing.

Florida

Georgia

New economic development is expected to bring 100 jobs to the Valdosta neighborhood with the construction of a 200,000-square-foot facility at the Westside Industrial Park by P&B Cold Storage, generating over $30 million in capital investments (Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority).

Economic development is about preparing sites for potential projects, according to Jonathan Jackson, who discussed the importance of industrial parks and their readiness at the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce Eggs & Issues breakfast held at Central Georgia Technical College.

Johns Creek recently hired Kim Allonce as its new Economic Development Director to oversee business retention, entrepreneurship, and community placemaking.

Nakia Melecio will lead the Innovation Lab at Georgia Tech's Enterprise Innovation Institute, focusing on life sciences, biosciences, healthcare research, innovation, workforce development, and expanding international efforts.

Indiana

Indiana’s Regional Cities Initiative, proposed by Gov. Mike Pence in 2015, successfully boosted employment and economic growth in Fort Wayne, Evansville, and South Bend by focusing on quality-of-life investments rather than traditional job attraction strategies. Eric Holcomb departed Thursday for his next economic development trip to the Netherlands, Belgium, and France to build on discussions and deepen relationships within the microelectronic and semiconductor industries.
