Alabama
Huntsville’s economic development team, led by Lucia Cape, SVP of economic development for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, has been advocating for the expansion of the city's space industry. They're promoting the commercial use of low-Earth orbit products, including platforms and equipment, and research facilitated by microgravity.
Arkansas
The Arkansas Department of Transportation has formally commenced a $30 million project to extend Arkansas 83 Spur to U.S. 278 in Monticello, aiming to unite both sides of the city and bolster its economy. Nita McDaniel, director of the Monticello Economic Development Commission, commended the project for addressing long-standing traffic congestion problems, and improving access to emergency services, schools, the hospital, and the university
The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Foundation and the UAFS Center for Economic Development announced the creation of the Community Investment Fund on July 19, 2023.
The Baxter County Quorum Court's Economic Development and Budget committees held a joint meeting discussing a proposed partnership with the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce. Despite mixed public opinions, the proposal is tabled indefinitely.
