I'm still in Austin, Texas, for Galveston County Day at the Capital this week.

Yesterday afternoon, after spending the week visiting legislators with me, Son #3 is off to the YMCA Youth and Government Texas state conference, where he's a legislator.  This weekend, he is presenting a bill to make it legal for auto manufacturers to sell directly to public.  (For background: Tesla has to sell their cars in Texas via a convoluted system that involves ordering them from another state.)

After that, the plan was to pick up Son #2 at the Austin airport before dinner, but his flight was delayed for five hours.  He'd been in California visiting his grandparents and had already extended his trip nearly a week because of California's colossal snowstorms.

He ended up getting stuck in Phoenix for an extra five hours and got to experience the rage of some of his fellow passengers.  Thankfully, he eventually made it to Austin and remained cool and calm on only his second solo flight across the country.

When we finally returned to the hotel, Mrs. Carlson made us a celebratory microwave cake in a mug!
