Alaska

The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation's annual forecast highlighted a mixed economic outlook for the city, with a promising recovery in job numbers following the pandemic but significant challenges in housing and workforce availability. CEO Jenna Wright emphasized incremental population growth in 2024 after years of decline, yet warned of the ongoing shrinkage of the working-age demographic.

Arizona

Colorado

The Colorado State Parks Dark Sky Certification program aims to enhance stargazing tourism by reducing light pollution in 12 state parks. This initiative supports rural tourism, energy conservation, and quality of life improvements while promoting off-peak travel and educational opportunities, says Eve Lieberman Executive Director, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

Arvada's Economic Development Association has facilitated the relocation of Black & Read, a popular local business, within the town. This support underscores the association's commitment to nurturing local enterprises and ensuring their continuous contribution to the community's economic vitality.

Connecticut

Hunter Mathena, the city economic developer for New Britain, has been appointed as the interim president of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce.

The City of Ansonia continues to be involved in the remediation of Olson Drive, despite selling the property to The Primrose Companies in 2022. The city secured a $3.8 million state grant to assist with the site's cleanup, which has proven more costly due to unexpected contamination issues. Economic Development Director Sheila O'Malley clarified that the grant funds are solely for assessment and remediation, not construction of the planned private sports complex.
