Anchorage store owners hoped Small Business Saturday would start a strong holiday shopping period to make up for a difficult year due to inflation and snowstorm impacts. Jenna Wright, president of the Anchorage Economic Development Corp., highlighted the impact of inflation on buyer's spending power, noting that Anchorage is the fourth most expensive US city for groceries.
